No matter where you live, you should make sure you carry special items in your car with you in case you should get stuck somewhere. While some of these things may change depending on the region you reside in, the fact remains that you want to make sure you have certain things on hand to help keep you safe and healthy if you have to wait for someone to come help you out of a situation. Here are some items you want to keep in your car:
You should have bottled water in the car – Bottled water is an important thing for you to have in your car. First of all, you want to make sure you are going to have something to drink if you get stuck somewhere for an extended period of time. Secondly, you should have water in your car in case you overheat. Once you wait for the car to cool down, then you can add some of the water to the radiator to help prevent the car from overheating again before you are able to make your way home. For this reason, it's a good idea to carry at least a couple of gallons with you at all times.
You should have a pocket knife in the car – You want to make sure you know the laws regarding how large of a knife it is legal for you to have in your car. But, you should make sure you have one you have access to. You can use the knife for a variety of things, depending on the situation that you are stuck in.
You should have a blanket with you – It's a very good idea to keep a blanket in the car. Even in the summer time, many areas still get a bit cold at night, and if you happen to get stuck somewhere and need to wait until morning for help, you should have a blanket to keep you warm. If you live in a colder region, then you may even want to carry a few with you.
You should keep some granola bars in the car – It's a good idea to keep a few granola bars in the car. This way, you know you will at least have something to eat if you are stuck for more than a few hours.
You should keep a tactical flashlight in the car – A tactical flashlight is one that will shine very bright and be extremely helpful in situations where you get stuck somewhere after dark. You can use the flashlight to see if you end up needing to walk somewhere, to flag down help that's on the way so they see you easier, and to check out the situation around you.
